As you may be aware, fluorescent lights will be obsolete from Autumn 2023 and Halogen lighting is already being phased out. Fluorescent tubes and bulbs will become increasingly difficult to source and their price will accelerate as demand increases; it is already becoming difficult to source ballasts that become burnt out.
We recommend that you start to upgrade the current lighting in your lift shafts, by replacing these with energy efficient LEDs. Although there are initial costs involved in fitting new shaft lighting kits, they are extremely cost effective compared to current fluorescents and have a lift span of up to 50,000 hours. They provide 20% more light output to the front of the luminaire, and 95% more light in emergency mode. The low glare and better light distribution performance is ideal for shaft lighting, using 12% less energy consumption rising to a staggering 60% less than a twin 4ft 58 fluorescent.
