The Royal Victoria Infirmary has been providing healthcare to the communities of Newcastle and the North East for over 250 years. It has one of the UK’s largest maternity departments, helping to bring over 5,700 babies into the world every year.

In March 2009, Lift Specialists were contracted to work at this important building. The brief was to carry out a major refurbishment of the 26-person group of four-bed passenger lifts in the hospital’s Leazes Wing North and the triplex lifts in the Leazes Wing South.

Our team of engineers also removed the two existing 20-person hydraulic lifts from the Claremont Wing and replaced them with a duplex pair of modern MRL traction lifts. In addition, the sterile services department had two manual shutter gates goods lifts which we fitted with new cars, GAL powered doors and a new Kollmorgen control system.

\\\\\\\"I can only praise Lift Specialists in the way this major project was achieved and managed by all of its staff and would recommend them to any organisation planning to refurbish their lifts or install new ones.\\\\\\\"
